Just a simple shot of a wombat doing what wombats do — eating grass. For the most part, wombats are pretty accommodating subjects, but sometimes you have to be patient to wait for them to lift their faces off the ground. Actually, they can be pretty big (up to 60 pounds). They kind of look like small bears as they wobble across the landscape. They are quite harmless and docile mammals. I even got to hold an older baby that was semi-wild (you can see from this Facebook link that even the young ones are pretty big — https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10153496619071704&set=a.421999746703)
There is just something so dear about wombats. Have only seen them in photos and on tv shows. I would love to see & photograph them in the wild one day.

He so cute
Looks to be very fuzzy
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wombat! Looks pretty cuddly–I assume he is not too big a creature?

Thanks for the reply–I had no idea they could be that big! Makes him even cuter–a lovable, cuddly, mini tank! So jealous you got to hug one.
When I was young, I had a friend who was obsessed with wombats, but I can’t remember why. It might have just been the name.
