In addition to all the great wildlife, Tasmania is an incredibly beautiful place. For an island that’s only about the size of West Virginia, there’s such a wide geographic diversity. I ended up taking a lot more landscape photos than I usually do. This one was at a place called Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park on the east coast. Freycinet is a fairly popular park by Tasmanian standards, but I avoided the crowds by hiking in just before sunset (which meant that I’d have to hike an hour and half back out — up a fairly steep and rocky trail — in the dark). It was well worth it to have the beach to myself as the sun dipped below the horizon. The orange lichen on the rocks is very characteristic of the north east coast of Tasmania. Awesome capture, Sean, of an amazing array of hues from pink to orange, blue, turquoise, grey, white, gold and green. This moment may have been brought to us with the aid of modern technology, but the scene was conceived of and available thanks to Mother Nature. Where would this world be without her this Thanksgiving Eve? Perhaps we should all give thanks that this globe still offers places of serenity and beauty like the one pictured here.
Wow so breath taking Thanks again for sharing your incredible adventure with us
Our World is full of such beauty we would never get to see but through you Sean you have made it possible
Sorry to miss Turkey Day with Family😪

There’s no way this pictures real. What do you think I was born yesterday?
Ha. Certainly one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve been to Marc. Helped, of course, by perfect sunset light on that particular night.
Absolutely stunning!

Thanks Sue. There’s a reason Wineglass Bay regularly finds itself on top ten lists of the best beaches in the world.
