In just about the same spot that I photographed the bear last Friday, I captured this wild turkey today. There were actually about twelve of them roaming the backyard — a mother and her almost grown chicks. I’m still waiting for the male with open tail feathers to pay a visit. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 500mm PF lens, ISO 800, f/5.6 at 1/50th of a second.
So fun to see all the wildlife wandering through. A friend of mine who live out in the country used to have a flock follow him around the property! They don’t often get too far off the ground, but they are pretty impressive flying.
Fun photo, Sean. We used to have Turkeys here almost every day, but several years ago they stopped coming for unknown reasons so it’s only very rarely that we see them here.

This is okay. But what I’d really like to see is a wild turkey sipping a quart of Wild Turkey.
I Photoshopped that part out because it didn’t fit in with my “natural” aesthetic.
great pic. ) do you put food for these wild turkeys ? )

I love the turkeys. I have a flock that passes through my yard every day. About 18 in total.
Yeah, odd things but quite enjoyable to watch making the rounds.
