I met my first white squirrel a few winters back in Olney, Illinois. I actually met quite a few white squirrels that day, all living near the town center. Olney is one of several towns in the US and Canada claiming to be the “Home of the White Squirrel.” They are actually just a color morph of the common Eastern gray squirrel. Here in western MA we have the gray, the red, the black and the mixing of all three! In my backyard I have gray ones with red in their tails, or gray ones with black mixed in. Some humans could learn from this. But this white one! And blue eyes to boot! Gorgeous!

Pretty creature. We seem to have lots of red squirrels on our golf course down here.
Sean are these squirrels considered albino’s?
I’ve heard both. Some people consider them albino, but as you can see the eyes aren’t the typical red you get in most albino animals.
