This is a white-eyed vireo. A hungry white-eyed vireo. Doing what hungry white-eyed vireos do when they get hungry. Another from last week’s trip to southwest Florida. Spotting help from my Mom on this one. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 500mm PF lens, ISO 1600, f/5.6 at 1/800th of a second.
Thanks Sue. Still testing out the 500PF as most of my work since getting it has been with camera trap. This was shot middle of the day, so bright sun, but the vireo and branch were in full shade.
One used to visit my bottlebrush tree almost daily, but I haven’t seen him in a long time. Nice reminder for me to stay on the lookout for these guys. Lovely capture.

Nice one, Sean! Interesting bokeh-ed background.

Hey Sean. It was lots of fun traipsing through the swamp with you. Wish we had seen a Florida panther!
There’s always next time Mom.
Caterpillars are okay, but the Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell tastes a little better and costs about the same.
See them in my area to now I know proper name , they keep pest off of my flowers
Yes, not many birds have that white eye.
Nice! Have you ever gotten a red-eyed vireo? https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Red-eyed_Vireo/photo-gallery/302325181
I’ve seen them before but don’t think I have any good shots. One to look out for. Especially one with the bright red eye.
