A black-backed jackal shakes off the rain before heading out to scavenge up a meal. Although they do hunt smaller mammals, they prefer to find (and often steal) leftovers from the apex predators of the African savanna. Photographed in the Laikipia region of Kenya. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 340mm) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/1000th of a second.
Love that we can se all the droplets of rain flying. He’s just doing what canines everywhere do after getting wet. nice capture. I can hear Taylor Swift—“Shake it off! Shake it off!”

After a good rain I’m always looking for the “shake off” shot.
Yeah, this is a really evocative photo. But instead of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”, I hear the lyrics to Cardi B’s “Wet-Ass Jackal”:
I said, certified Canidae
All night and all day
Wet-ass Jackal
Make that fur moisture spray, woo (ah)
