This is one of the many tree frogs that I met on several night walks in Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica. I’m not sure of the exact species (if you do, please let me know). He was a little guy, but seemed to have a big personality as he boldly peered into the front of my macro lens. Nikon D700 with Nikkor 105mm macro lens, ISO 200, f/16 at 1/60th of a second, two Nikon SB-900 flash units
What a nice little guy! Very nicely done Sean/ I love taking Macro shots and am looking at buying the new 105mm 2.8 VR lens to use with my D610 when it comes. Fabulous detail Sean, as always. 🙂
Sean, when you are using two SB900 flashes, are they on a single bracket attached in the middle with the tripod bush, one on each side, or are they elevated above the camera?? Just wondering for adapting a suitable system for myself. I have a SB600 and SB800.?
I use a Really Right Stuff bracket that attaches to my camera and forms an arc over the top of the camera. Both flashes are attached to that arc so that they can slide anywhere along the arc — so yes, they are both elevated above or to the side of the camera. Usually I have one flash directly above the camera, with the second on the left or righthand side. The side flash helps to soften the shadows of the overhead flash. Other times I position the flashes on either side of the camera, thereby acting a bit like a ring flash, evenly illuminating the subject.
LOVE frogs! I have been looking for frogs all summer to no avail, despite an extremely wet summer here in the midwest….
Great shot!! The big eyes make them look so very innocent, lol
