A couple of months ago, I posted a wide angle shot of tule elk on the horizon at twilight. Here’s one a bit closer and a bit earlier in the day. This bull was keeping watch over his harem as the fog was just starting to roll in in the background. I’m off to the Black Hills of South Dakota tomorrow for a few days. I do enjoy receiving these images from you and I do envy the fact that you live in such a wonderful country, and are able to travel around as you see fit to record more great images. Not being in a position to afford a Nikon 200 to 400 lens, I have just purchased an almost new Sigma 150 to 500 HSM OS lens for only $500 of our currency which is about US$400. Winter here at the moment, so am looking forward to better weather to put it through its paces. Enjoy South Dakota. Doris Day sang a song about the Black Hills of Dakota in the movie Calamity Jane.
Thanks Lawrie, the Beatles also sang about the Black Hills — stronghold of young Rocky Raccoon. And yes, the geographic diversity of the United States is remarkable and something that a lot of people that live here (especially where I live in New York City) are quite unaware of.
