The toco toucan is also sometimes called the common toucan or giant toucan. The latter because it is the largest species in the toucan family. Toco toucans are found throughout much of central South America and pockets to the north. This one was photographed in the Pantanal region of Brazil. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 270mm) ISO 400, f/8 at 1/640th of a second.
I can’t believe a bird that ridiculous-looking invented Froot Loopz. He must be disgustingly rich. And here i am hating on him in the comments section while he’s probably getting his beak waxed and pouring cocaine on his breakfast cereal. FML.
Super fun pic! The blue ring around his eye is fabulous. This is proof that reality is crazier than anything you can make up! Let the froot loops roll…
It looks as though the bird’s body matches the length of its beak. I like the fact that you caught the toucan’s tongue. I also like the fact that the blue eye ring appears to match with its blue feet. What a critter!
He/she was picking berries and tossing them in the air, giving me several opportunities for the tongue shot. Nice catch on the feet. A well-coordinated outfit.

Nothing says tropics to me like a toucan. I do love those blue eye patches.
