This Sulawesi dwarf cuscus was a challenge to photograph due to the mixed lighting conditions of the deep shadows caused by the thick foliage and the bright highlights caused by the rising sun. For this particular image, I set my camera to expose for the bright areas and waited for the cuscus to pop its head into the light. These guys are pretty rare and only exist on a few islands in Indonesia. I was lucky to see this one. Cuscus are marsupials and are a type of possum. There’s a cute little face rarely seen! Thank you for bringing it to us. Good reminder on a tricky exposure. I’ll remenber that when I’m in the deep dark woods on a sunny day!

Wish I had your skill! Just a beautiful shot, great timing!
Cool that you got this shot.
definitely the cutest possum on the block
Well done Crane! Great shot.
Pretty intense but much cuter than an American possum. Lighting was just right!
