Continuing with the Halloween theme for this week, here is an insect wearing a stick costume. I photographed this lanky fellow in the cloud forest of Ecuador, about two hours drive from Quito. Nikon D700 with Nikkor 105mm macro lens, ISO 1600, f/14 at 1/125th of a second
It amazes me that you can even SEE these creatures. They are so small and blend in so well with their surroundings, it is a wonder you can spot them to photograph. Good job, Sean!
Sean, I’m looking for a good eco vacation in Costa Rica. If you don’t mind giving me some advice, you could email me at annbowe@annbowedesigns.com. It just occurred to me that, since you’ve been everywhere, you’ve likely been to Costa Rica many times. We’d like to stay in a cool lodge and hiking and kayaking would be on our wish list. If you don’t have time to respond, I fully understand.
Hi Ann, yes, I’ve been to Costa Rica three times. One of my favorite places on earth for wildlife. I’ll follow up at your email address with some suggestions.

Well, a good guide certainly helps. Not to mention that this “little” guy was about eight inches long.
