The southern elephant seal ranges throughout the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic regions. They are the largest species of pinniped, which includes seals, sea lions, and walruses. This one is a juvenile and much smaller than the average adult. Of course, in this shot, it just looks like a head sitting in the grass. Photographed on Carcass Island in the Falkland Islands. Nikon D810 with Nikkor 17-35mm lens (at 28mm) ISO 800, f/6.3 at 1/1600th of a second.
He looks like someone just repeated an anti-elephant seal joke in his presence and he’s both hurt and trying to hold it together. I’m guessing you were the only one in his presence Sean. C’mon, it’s 2021, let’s leave that kind of humor behind buddy.
Although what was staring back at him was his own reflection in the glass of the lens (which come to think of it, is exactly what DeNiro was doing when he said that).

Love him!
Thanks Mo. Quite the face.

I was just happy that someone was listening to my jokes Louis. I meant no harm.
I dig that perspective!
Low, tight and wide. If I can accomplish that, I’m happy.
I believe he is channeling Robert Deniro and thinking: “You lookin’ at ME?!?!”
