I was surprised at how many Pacific green sea turtles we saw in the Galapagos Islands. We snorkeled almost every day and almost every time we got in the water we saw a few of these guys. I got plenty of shots at close range of them staring into the camera, but I really liked this one of the turtle surfacing for air amidst the the diffused rays of the sun. They haven’t come out to snorkel with me much in my past experience, but when I lived in Hawaii, there was one really huge old one that would body surf with me at my favorite cove. It was amazing to look over and see him riding the same wave I was riding…LOVE!
So many things to love about this picture – the rays of sun, the break of water at the top, the tiny little fish all over the place, the emerald-colored floor, and of course, the majestic pose of the turtle. Masterpiece!
