A couple of shots from the Caroni Swamp in Trinidad to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Doesn’t get much more red and green than this. I visited Trinidad earlier this year and spent an afternoon watching these amazingly bright red ibis return from their day of feeding along the northern coast of Venezuela to their nighttime roosting spot in Trinidad. Still haven’t figured out WordPress issue with my photos, so please click image for full size, sharper view. Thanks. Happy Holidays. Top Shot: Nikon D810 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) ISO 1000, f/4 at 1/400th of a second
Bottom Shot: Nikon D800 with Nikkor 70-200mm lens (at 105) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/400th of a second
Wow! Unbelievable Christmasy color in those red aviators against their green back drop, Sean. In the bottom shot, it looks as though a few egrets have also taken up residence along with the ibis. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Sean. Thanks for bringing remarkable images of equally remarkable fauna from distant lands for us to enjoy. Santa, please leave Sean more memory cards and batteries. He’s been a very good boy!
Thanks Sue. Yes, a few egrets, as well as a few white ibis in amongst all the scarlet ibis. Here’s hoping I get to see as many wild and exotic creatures in 2016 as I did in 2015. Happy Holidays.
Great contrasting colours. The top shot is a real beauty.
Thank you for bringing such joy to me with your pictures of Nature’s Best.
Happy Xmas to you & l hope to see more of your marvellous inages in thd New Year.
Regards, from your Ancestor’s lsland.
Thanks Con. One of these days I’ll return to the Emerald Isle. It’s been since 1975 when I was ten and we went in search of long lost relatives. Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you, Sean, for allowing the world to see so many wonderful things through your lens. I would never imagine getting a
chance to see a scarlet ibis otherwise! My dad, Peter Butterfield, gets so much joy from seeing your pictures. And he has gotten me hooked as well. Thank you for spreading so much happiness! Merry Christmas!
Hi Liz, mystery solved. I thought someone out there was challenging your Dad to a bit of a lyrical throw down. Thanks for the kind words and Merry Christmas to you.
