Sally lightfoot crabs can be quite spectacular when all that bright color is set against the black lava rock that makes up much of the Gálapagos Islands. This guy was trying to hide but not doing a very good job of it. Nikon D700 with Nikkor 70-200mm lens (at 200mm) ISO 800, f/5.6 at 1/160th of a second

Another example of camoflage gone wrong!
No doubt Sue. Some creatures have it, others don’t.
Nice contrast.
Amazing colors!
Hiding’s my game but —- Only from those blind to color —- A grey world I win .
The crab looks like he took a wrong turn, whoops, not supposed to be here!
In molten form I —- Am the mother of this rock —- Sheltered by mine .
Love the bright color against the rock!
I love the colors and the textures.
If there were some flowing lava on those rocks he’d be pretty well camoflaged….and probably cooked too! great shot!
