This will be the last post for a week as I head back to the Peruvian Amazon tomorrow. Last October I was there in low water season. I wanted to go back and try my luck in high water season. In the meantime, here’s a roseate spoonbill on a misty day in western Florida. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (with 1.4 TC for 550mm) ISO 400, f/6.3 at 1/400th of a second.
Wow. Exciting trip. With all this travel, your life is like a combination of Indiana Jones, Steve Irwin and a small-town perv who hides in the bushes taking pictures.
I love that you caught a drop of water dripping from the spoonbill — it adds some drama and movement into a still photo. They are beautiful birds and not common down here is SW FL. You captured their “essence” with this shot. Have a wonderful trip to the Amazon and be safe.

That’s a great photo, Sean, of such an amazing bird. One day I hope to travel to Florida to photograph such “big bird” beauties.
Enjoy your journey to the Peruvian Amazon. I probably don’t need to tell you to pack your camera!
Thanks Sue. Unfortunately, Ding Darling was devastated after the hurricane last year, although I think it just recently re-opened.
Safe travels Sean. Love the Spoonbill.

Ha, yes, those drips always add a nice touch. Thanks.
