Rainbow Lorikeets are fairly common birds in Australia, but they can be difficult to photograph because they’re usually high in the treetops. I was able to get this pair out in the open for a quick moment. Photographed years ago in Noosa, Australia. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 manual focus lens, ISO 100, f/5.6 at 1/125th of a second.

Spectacular colors!! No wonder the first part of their name is “Rainbow”!
The ironic thing is when you talk to Lorikeets they’re boring as all oatmeal. Most of them work in underwriting and their hobby is lawn care.
I can’t imagine looking up & seeing such colors flying against the sky. It just has to be awesome to see!
Amazing detail and color in this shot!
This falls in the category of: you can’t make this up! They should be the next mascot for Sherwin Williams ads. Spectacular birds!
