Purple honeycreepers are small little things — not all that much bigger than a hummingbird. They are in the tanager family and live throughout the northern half of South America and into the Caribbean. I photographed this one in Trinidad. Such a pretty bird. It’s amazing how widely colors in nature range, from camouflage to the brilliance of this tiny creature.
I like this bird’s confidence. The color. The name. Clearly this is a bird that does not give one tiny splat of birdshit what you think about it.
