We watched this puma as she slowly worked her way through the grasslands of Torres Del Paine National Park in Chile, back to a kill that she had hidden earlier in the day. She would disappear into the landscape, occasionally entering a clearing such as this before vanishing again. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/500th of a second.
Torres del Paine sounds like a golf course that’s owned by the members of House of Pain. And the jingle they play on local radio stations is something like – “Play a-round. Play-around. Tee up, tee up and get down.” That’s how I think about it. It doesn’t seem like it would have anything to do with pumas.
Just an adorable kitty face. You’d never know how ferocious he/she can be. The puma population, under the name of panther, our state animal, which I am told is related but not the same, is greatly endangered down here in FL because their habitats are being decimated. Too bad. They are beautiful animals.
Terrific shot and story, Sean. We have cougars in our neighborhood. I haven’t seen any yet, but neighbors have irrefutable game camera photos, and we had a deer kill across the street not long ago. Not sure I want to see one when I’m out walking our dogs.

Gee, Lou, I never figured you for a golfer!

Lovely shot with her face emerging through the grasses. Nicely done!
I love that she is almost a ghost in her surroundings. Wonderful shot, Sean!
