I posted a wide-angle shot of this frog a few weeks ago. Here’s more of a macro look. The scientific name for this frog is Ranitomeya flavovittata and surprisingly it doesn’t have any common name. The guides simply referred to it as the yellow one. They live inside bromeliad plants where water pools at the center of the leaves. Nikon D850 with Nikkor 105mm macro lens, ISO 400, f/8 at 1/60th of a second, Godox V860iii flash with Westcott soft box.
He may be emerging from my bad dream! A colorful dream though. You are pretty brave to get so close to something that has “poison” in it’s name! And, until now, I never feared bromeliads!

That’s really a great shot, Sean. Your yellow frog appears to have a stylish black-dotted aqua ascot!
Ha, yes. That, and also they have slightly blue legs, and a bit of water in the center of the bromeliad to add to the bluish color of his pants.

Well, their defense is to sit still and be colorful. The opposite of camouflage.
