This particular lion was putting on quite a show for us, rolling in the grass, licking his paws, and doing all manner of other lion things. When I snapped this shot, he was distracted by something in the distance and was on high alert and looking particularly regal. Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 500mm lens, ISO 1100, f/5.6 at 1/125th of a second.
Fantastic image, Sean! You can’t miss the power your lion was commanding in this photo. He appears so ready to “bust a move”. The blue in the sky is close to the color of the Detroit Lions’ suits. They, too, put on a regal performance tonight. I’m sure your Detroit Lions friends appreciate this salute to their team!
Majestic indeed! His head seems too big for his body (the better to eat you with, my dear), but then his limbs are so incredibly muscular as well (the better to tear you apart, my dear). This close up it’s easy to see why they are called the king of the jungle. Beautiful creature but ferocious!
