This cape buffalo was in the middle of a large herd, yet was the only one covered in mud. He stopped to pose for a few portraits (as buffalos usually do) before moving on. Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 500mm PF lens, ISO 3600, f/5.6 at 1/500th of a second.
They should do a Dawn dish soap ad where they clean a raggedy ass buffalo. Yeah, sure, you can get a little oil off a duckling – but ducklings are small. Before I want buy your dish soap I need to know it can get 3-inches of dry mud off a buffalo scrote like nothing.
Did he go off-roading in the mud flats?? One can only imagine how he ended up this way, but he looks pretty proud of whatever he did. Hence, a great portrait!

Do I look okay?, lol. Love his look!
Always with a grumpy disposition, staring right at camera.

That’s a great photo, Sean! Wonderful bokeh!
Thanks Sue. I always find it hard to get anything interesting with the buffalo, but this guy gave me a nice opportunity.

Ha, thanks Laura. Who knows what this guy was up to.
