I captured this image of a bull moose in northern Colorado a few years back on a rainy day. It’s always nice when you can photograph the wildlife from the comfort of the driver’s seat of your car. It was early July and the moose’s antlers were covered in velvet and quite a ways from being fully grown. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/100th of a second.
They are amazing to see in the wild! We happened up two bulls on a hike in the Tetons, up close & personal, and were very grateful they did not take issue with us being on their trail. I like the bit of blue wildflowers in the foreground to further set the stage.

Generally covering oneself in velvet is a pretty bold fashion choice for those who weigh well over 1,000 pounds, but Moose pulls it off.
Glad it wasn’t your backyard
They are so huge but this guy looks tame
