A female lion doing her best downward dog. This image was captured in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana, which proved to be a surprisingly good location for lion sightings. I, of course, wish I could have gotten a lower perspective, but not a good idea to get out of a safari vehicle with big cats present. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 250mm) ISO 400, f/5.6 at 1/2000th of a second.

Just goes to show, cats will be cats, no matter the size!
It’s also not a great idea to get into a vehicle with big cats either.
That’s exceptional, Sean! It took me right to my own doggy who frequently does what we call “stretchies”! Great capture!!
My dog too. The universal four-legged stretch.
That looks like one really healthy lioness! So great to see them just doing “their thing” in the wild.
For sure. I was surprised how many I saw in the Kalahari desert.
Amazing! Almost has me believing she’s a gentle creature. . .
For the most part gentle. Until she’s hungry.
What a moment to catch , doesn’t happen to often
Thanks Aunt Sue. I’m always on the lookout for the “slightly” unusual behavior.
