We ran into this leopard several times during our six days in Botswana. On this encounter, she was sitting in a sausage tree waiting for impala to walk beneath to eat the flowers that had fallen on the ground. From the reports we heard back at the camp, we just missed the action. She sat patiently for hours until a small herd, noses to the ground, came foraging for the flowers. Then she dropped from the tree and killed one of the unsuspecting impala. We would later catch up with her again with the fresh kill. Sean,
I am sure some one has already alerted you to the correct spelling of herd when referring to a group of animals(not heard ).
It is an amazing photo and thanks for sharing it.
Happy New Year to you and your wife. Hope you had a lovely Xmas and a festive one.
Wow what an awesome shot!! I love big cats they are so beautiful. You are so lucky to see them in real life and being in their territory it must be so exciting. Thank you for sharing Sean I love all your photos.
Thanks Con. Yeah, I agree on the eyes. She was in that tree for a while so I took quite a few shots. Some looking at camera, some looking in the other direction, etc. but I liked this one best.

Take care always. Best wishes for the Year 2014.
Brilliant shot!
A pleasure to see it.
The only legitimate way to ‘Shoot’ a Leopard.
Her eyes focusing above the lens is better than if it was even composed looking directly into the lens.
I never knew there was a genre called ‘Leopard Portraits’ but that’s the ‘Original’ & the start of it.
