One thing about lemurs — they can really jump. This is a common brown lemur that I photographed in the town of Perinet in Madagascar. I was using my usual two-flash set up on a bracket, only this time with my wide angle zoom. The lemurs were very habituated so I could get really close. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 17-35mm lens (at 20mm) ISO 400, f/5.6 at 1/60th of a second, two Nikon SB-800 flash units
We were in Perinet in 2007, and a whole troop of about two dozen brown lemurs came by. They leapt across an opening in the tree canopy about 10-12 feet, even with babies on their backs! We watched in awe as one by one, they all made that jump. We filmed that sequence and to this day, still enjoy that video of the leaping lemurs!
You hit it just right on the timing, Sean. I notice some streaks just above the lemur and am trying to figure out what they may me but am drawing a blank. The more pronounced bluish streak may be a reflection of some sort from the flash used, but what, pray tell, are the others?
