The Falklands aren’t just about the penguins — there are also plenty of pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) around. Those of you who have been following my blog for a while know that I often post northern elephant seals that I photograph along the California coast. These guys are the southern cousins. They look pretty similar, but are much, much larger. This is a juvenile, and even the little guys are much bigger than the young northern elephant seals. The full ground males are downright enormous, weighing in at 8800 pounds and growing to 19 feet long. Nikon D810 with Nikkor 17-35mm lens (at 25mm) ISO 800, f/6.3 at 1/1600th of a second

great pic, looks like this guy needs to go on diet.?
Looks like you were laying on the ground too when you took this shot.
Correct Donna, as usual.
Grass bound burrito dreams of —- warm blubber and nasal growth to come —- Eyes wize beyond its age .
I love his whiskers! Such a face.
I wonder what he was thinking.
He was probably wondering what the strange creature laying on the ground next to him was.
What big eyes he has!
Great shot. I had no idea that they get so large. Wow.
LOL “grass bound burrito”!!!!! both that and this photo are awesome, thanks for making my day!
My pleasure Amanda. Wish I had a sound file to go along with it. I love the little, high-pitched bleating sounds these guys make.
Adorbs!
Totes.
I keep coming back to look at him. I love him. I feel like him today!!!
