A little more than a year ago, I posted a very similar shot of the Joshua Tree landscape and the desert in bloom. This photo, however, shows more of that hairy prickly pear cactus in the foreground that kind of looks like an old man’s beard. The desert blooms very quickly and unpredictably. I was lucky on this trip to catch it in all its glory.
Right time, right place. Luck? Har har. I picture you using an ephemeris, tide tables, and Google Earth before you set out wearing an ascot and field hat while carrying a horse blanket for lying down on.
Oh this is lovely, the color tones are gorgeous! Was just there in May for the first time, soooo beautiful…..I am going thru the hundreds of shots I took out there this week as a matter of fact! Hope I have some this lovely :O) Great one!
Thanks Amanda. I think it might have been May or so when I was there a couple of years ago. It was sometime in the spring, just trying to time those cactus blooms.

Tide tables and google earth, yes. Ephemeris, ascot and field hat, no, but maybe I should give that a try.
