I do love the jackrabbits. This black-tailed jackrabbit gave me a quick glance over the shoulder while in a bit of a clearing among all that desert scrub brush. You can also see the namesake black tail in this one. Photographed on a scorching hot day in the California desert about three hours southeast of Los Angeles. I was today years old when I learned that the formal name of Jackrabbits is Johnrabbits.
