Apparently, the art of subtlety is lost on the proboscis monkey. I didn’t stick around long enough to see if this rather forward approach with the ladies of the species resulted in any success. Either way, this one goes out to my friend Garth, who yesterday requested said monkey, no doubt identifying with its equally impressive facial proboscis. Nikon D300 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 350mm) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/60th of a second
Wonderful photo again Sean, a rare find as these monkeys are very elusive. LOL believe or not but this display in males is to attract females .. :o) size does count :o)
Now…..that…..is one big nose he’s got. I don’t think I’ve even seen this species of monkey before (I would have remembered that distinctive facial feature).
Incidentally, the Facebook post from Garth that prompted today’s photo:
“You say, “holiday time” Sean but this photo whiff’s of a particular Jesus-based one if you ask me. If those aren’t Christian chipmunks posed front-to-back before my eyes then I’m a chestnut mandibled toucan…or some other equally preposterous Photo of the Day bird or beast. Next year I demand you bring me and the rest of MY people a “holiday time” photo for the Jews! A proboscis monkey hanging from a money tree perhaps? Your choice.”
Looks like my dearly-departed Uncle Schmendrick on my mother’s side. Thank you for posting Sean. You are, and always will be, a friend to the Jews as well as the monkeys who look like them. Early bird special on me!!! Mazel tov.

I am what I am,and immodesty becomes me.OK?
Yes indeed! He may have the equipment, but with facial features like that?? One never knows what pleases the female of the species!

I saw Garth’s facebook post yesterday, guess he got what he wished for!
What’s more disturbing than his stance is the expression on his face. . . regardless, very fitting for Garth in so many ways. . .

OH MY GOD hahahaha. This is the best. That reads Garth all the way. The photo makes me as uncomfortable as he does. That creeper.
I think his proboscis says it all.
Happy Holidays.
