A nice moment here between a mother Galapagos sea lion and her young pup. Galapagos sea lions are just slightly smaller than their relatives in California. They occur on each of the islands in the Galapagos archipelago. Every place we saw a bit of sandy beach, we also saw sea lions. When there was no sand, they were basking in the sun on the rocks… or in the middle of a trail, or on a boat, or on the park benches and sidewalks of the few larger islands that were inhabited by people. These two were on our favorite island, Fernandina — a beautiful place, devoid of any people but full of all the creatures that the Galapagos are famous for. Sean, this is a beautiful shot and a beautiful tender moment. The colors are stunning & it reminds me of a ying yang even tho it’s browns & blacks instead of white & black :O)
Hey Don, at 920 pixels on the long end of a jpeg there’s very little difference between the two cameras, but at full resolution on my computer screen you can really see the beauty of the D800. As a wildlife guy, I really like the latitude when it comes to cropping. Even with the longest lenses, you never know how far away the action is going to be.

Oy, this just tugged at my heart strings! That’s how Lady George hugs me…wraps her little neck around.
no words!!!!!!!
OH MY GOD. I want one. Have you ever pet one? Are they bristly or soft?
C’mon now Patti, you know that you’re not supposed to touch the wild animals. My guess would be bristly.
Well, with your adventures I thought maybe you had come across one you could touch, not necessarily wild.
Hmmmm, D800? What do you think of it? Honestly, I like the look of your D700 shots better. Can that be possible?
