Not just an emu, but an emu with a kangaroo running around in the background. Just part of the landscape in Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 600mm manual focus lens, ISO 200, f/8 at 1/250th of a second
Yeah, that 600 was my first big lens. I bought it used and it was my relatively inexpensive way to get into shooting wildlife. Action was tough with manual focus, and birds in flight were near impossible (and I had to always use a tripod), but it was a nice sharp lens and I was able to get lots of good portrait shots, and lucked out every now and again with action.

Bipedal both fur and feather—-Now searching for things unspoken—-Joined by mutual need.
Two for the price of one….and capturing the color of the landscape there well. Great shot, and that’s an interesting long lens Sean.

Love the color palette and the composition here Sean. So, how much does that 600mm lens weigh?
