An elephant takes a morning stroll in front of an escarpment in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. Nikon D850 with Nikkor 70-200mm lens (at 110mm) ISO 1600, f/4 at 1/1250th of a second.
Thanks Mom. This was one of those shots that I had to yell to the driver to stop. Really wanted to get the elephant while the great light was hitting the escarpment.
Thanks Sally. Yes, nice to be on our five acres and be able to stretch out a bit. Need to start capturing some of the wildlife that regularly walks through our yard.
Wow! I do love this image, Sean. The elephant is cradled in striations of many hues. The overall photo is as amazing as its main subject. I was immediately taken by the slope of the escarpment on the left, which mimics the leading edge of the elephant’s head and outstretched, sloping trunk. I just love that parallel theme in this wonderful photograph. You’ve got yourself another wall hanger, Sean!
Thanks Sue. Finding the elephants is the easy part. Finding great backgrounds takes a bit more luck. The low light was just starting to hit the landscape and I had the driver back up to capture it.

Exceptional! It looks as though the background is from a Hollywood set. So beautiful, Sean.

Sean, This is spectacular. I’ve reposted to Facebook. I hope to are avoiding the Cooties. Better to be in Connecticut than NYC..

Wow, outstanding.
Thanks Donna.
Great, now i’m going to have The Lion King soundtrack stuck in my head all day.
You’re welcome for the distraction Louis.
Love the colors you captured–this could be a painting!
Thanks Andi. Nothing like that early morning light on the savanna.
