These are the most commonly seen geese while on safari in Kenya. They were considered sacred by ancient Egyptians and appear in lots of their artwork. This one was coming in for a landing toward the end of the day. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) ISO 400, f/4 at 1/1600th of a second.
Fabulous detail in this shot!!!I can even see the colors of its eyes in flight, yet! These are really beautiful birds, stately and regal in appearance, and I can understand why they were revered by ancient Egyptians.
I love Egyptian geese – they are so beautiful & your image of this one is spectacular. Talk about staying power – the ancient Egyptians considered them sacred and today we continue to be held captivated by their beautiful plumage. I’d say that’s a pretty good run of celebrity status!
