This little guy had something on his mind. At just two years old, like his human cousins, he is still a toddler. We had a great time watching him roll around in the grass and crawl over his older siblings and the adults in the family of ten mountain gorillas. Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 70-200mm lens (at 140mm) ISO 3200, f/2.8 at 1/250th of a second.
Good question Donna. It was on the last Africa trip that I started doing more video. That said, it was always as a second thought. I always try to get the great still moment first, but maybe I should start thinking video first. I’ll post some video soon from Africa. Sadly, I don’t think I got any of this baby, but I did get a few video clips of the adults on the second day of gorilla trekking.
What a beautiful baby gorilla! He appears to have been posed for his 8×10 glossy. Maybe he is planning to try out for a role in he next big film! It must have been fun observing him roll around amongst his family members. Lucky you, Sean! Lucky those of us who take the time to watch the greater world through your lens!

Reading about this guy crawling and rolling made me wonder if you have a collection of your subject’s antics on videos.

Thanks Sue. They can certainly be very human like, and in fact are about as close as it gets to us, sharing 98% of our genetic make up.
