The Coscoroba swan ranges throughout southern South America. They are almost completely white, except for a bit of black on their wingtips. They are small for swans and have more of a goose-like head. I photographed this one in a lagoon in the town of Puerto Natales in southern Chile. The southern range of the Andes can be seen in the background. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 300mm) ISO 100, f/6.3 at 1/500th of a second.
Yeah, sure, Corscoroba Swans are smaller than average. But they have incredible passing skills and are total monsters when it comes to getting rebounds.
What a wonderful image! The swan is absolutely beautiful and the setting magnificent. Chile is on my bucket list, when the world opens up. You are so lucky to have travelled to so many amazing places around the globe, Sean!
Thanks Sue. Of course, no matter how many places I go to, I always want to see more. I have a bunch of camera trap equipment being delivered tomorrow. Hopefully the new hobby will keep me occupied until things open up.
I have often considered investing in a game cam or two or three. Am always held back ‘cuz the mps haven’t exactly seduced me, compared to the mps I enjoy with my D850, for example. Looking forward to the results you get with your new gear, Sean.
As for travel, I, too, always want to see more – what’s over that hill or beyond that dale? One day I hope to see more of this globe.
