Common snapping turtles get a bad rap. Contrary to popular belief, there are no documented cases of one ever biting someone’s fingers off. In reality, they are quite docile creatures. The alligator snapping turtle on the other hand, those are the ones you need to watch out for. This friendly snapper was photographed years ago in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. Common is one of my favorite artists. He’s a rapper. He starred in John Wick: Chapter 2 with Keanu Reeves. And now he’s a snapping turtle. You don’t see that kind of versatility in most artists these days.

Not to mention a Find Your Park celebrity ambassador.
Wonderful perspective, Sean!
Thanks Sue. On the ground as usual.
How many undocumented cases?
Ha. Good point Karen. One never knows.
