I spent my second to last night in Tasmania with legendary Australian guide, Craig Bushie Williams. While searching for quolls in a wooded clearing, we spotted this mother common brushtail possum carrying her young joey on her back. I saw quite a few of these possums in Tasmania (and also on mainland Australia) but this was the only one I saw with a joey. Unreal shot, Sean!
Thanks Sue. Always fun when you’re photographing one species (quolls) and all of a sudden a different species wonders through the scene.
Sean – I am in awe of your consistent and constant photographic talent. Thank you. -Michael
Thanks Michael. Hope all is well down in North Carolina.

Very touching, a hardworking mother and her very vulnerable child.
Thanks Ann.
Amazing. It’s like these animals all model for you!
I’m a possum whisperer.
Good name, Craig Bushy Williams. AND I like the pocket joeys.
Great shot with flash from that distance.
Quite a large backpack to be lugging around, it looks great!
Reminds me of the adage ‘A man’s work is from sun to sun. A woman’s work (or mother’s work) is never done!’
