A coastal brown bear sets out on an early morning stroll. She was heading to a prime fishing spot at low tide, hoping for a breakfast of silver salmon for her and her two cubs. Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 200mm) ISO 1600, f/4 at 1/400th of a second
The only thing that is more vast than the vastness of the state of Alaska is the sky above. Your image screams “Alaska”, with the mother bear well placed in the foreground, the water & mountain range in the distance and that great big sky overhead. Super capture!

It certainly ain’t easy being a bear.

Thanks Sue. Of my four days at Lake Clark, this was the only morning that produced any sun, but it sure was spectacular while it lasted.

Nice sky
The morning light backdrop is so beautiful it almost doesn’t look real. Lovely capture of a bear “off to market”.
Thanks Laura. Nothing like that pre-dawn light coloring a partially clouded sky.
Beautiful.
Thanks Rachel.
