This is what a safari must look like to a cheetah. The vehicle is actually ours, and I was on the ground behind the cheetah. I’ve posted photos of her before — she was saved by a Masai warrior when she was six weeks old and caught in a barbed wire fence. In this photo she was six months old and just beginning to venture out and hunt on her own. She was still very trusting of humans and we were able to actually play with her out in the field (see my bio pic here when she was up on our vehicle’s front hood). Thanks, Sean…Just loved the cheetahs. Actually got to hug one in Nairobi at the animal orphanage…..and she purred just like my kitty! Her name was Sharon!
I so enjoy your daily posts, and some of these pictures just make my day! Thank you!
Looks like part of a safari we went on in2009 , Masai Mara, Little Govenor’s camp. We saw our first chettah in Lewa. He had 2 brothers he was usually with but he was alone and crying for them. I have him on video. Love Africa’s animals. Want to return again. Thanks for all your pics, they are wonderful!

Terrific shot, Sean. It’s nice to see wide-angle wildlife photos.
Really cool image! Love the safari truck in the background. This photo tells a tale or is that a tail? Nicely composed!
Often wondered about that cheetah picture and how you were able to get close so close to her.
Yeah, she was very people friendly.

So jealous. I love this shot!
Is this the same one Karen was with?
Incredible to have such a relationship with
Wild Animals
Aunt Sue
It is. Karen had just been in the field rubbing the cheetah’s belly before I took this shot. I think Karen was standing behind me.
awe-inspiring!
