These three cheetahs brothers seemed full of confidence and on a mission as they marched past our safari vehicle. About half an hour later, I saw them again and watched as they chased down a herd (or dazzle as it’s more commonly known in Africa) of zebras. The chase — unfortunately for the cheetahs, but fortunately for the zebras — was unsuccessful. With their extreme speed, cheetahs are efficient hunters, but even so, only make a kill about fifty percent of the time. Zebras are fast, but not as fast. They are big though and they kick. Cheetahs are relatively small and light cats — built for speed rather than strength. They go for smaller prey and were angling for a baby zebra, but the adult zebras were protecting the young as they ran, constantly kicking at the cheetahs. Here’s a link to the chase that I previously posted https://seancrane.com/2014/02/cheetah-chase/
People ask me how I can tell Bug and Lucy apart, but you can definitely see the differences (and not just in their lady parts or boy parts). In these guys, I see no difference!
I’ve never felt comfortable watching one animal kill another in the nature zone but ..it is their way & I’ve come to accept it without freaking out and crying every time…geez look what we humans do to each other and it’s definitely not for food. The look you’ve captured is intense and a “on a mission” gaze…nice shot.

Not so cute when they are all grown up! They sure do look determined to get whatever they are after. Zebras must be pretty fast also.

Fast, mean cats.

Don’t even think about it—-Such a serious mein clearly says—-They are not your friend.
Scary, very scary.

This is a great shot Sean. They’re not messing around. Talk about capturing a moment. Very well done.
I love cheetahs! Soooo fast! And elegant!
