Elephants will occasionally charge a safari vehicle. Should it be a concern? Of course. They are incredibly powerful beasts. That said, the vast majority of charges are mock and a good guide will know the difference between when an elephant is genuinely agitated and means business and when it’s just trying to give you a pseudo-friendly warning. As a child in the 50s [yes, I’m almost 70 years old!] I remember my parents taking me to see the film ‘Elephant Walk’ starring Elizabeth Taylor. I remember vividly how the elephant stampede went through the home. It was one of the scariest of film moments in my young life. I think that’s when I realized the intelligence of this animal. Wonderful shot, Sean!
“Awesome” doesn’t do this image justice. Love the elephant’s stance & posture – it means business, but likely realized Sean Crane & his photo gear was a passenger in the safari truck.
