The Rocky Mountain elk has the largest antlers of all the elk subspecies in North America. In springtime and throughout the summer, the antlers continue to grow and are covered in velvet. Eventually, they’ll shed the velvet and then the antlers themselves. This guy had been sleeping in the grass and all I saw were those great big antlers until he woke up. What a beautiful shot the contrast with all the colors in the background and the elk just kicking back amazing. We saw elk in Grand Canyon in October cutest thing he look both ways before he cross the road they are amazing creatures.

Aunt Sue
Thanks Aunt Sue. Yes, the big bucks in particular can be massive and those antlers can be the width of the front of a car.
What a rack! Nice capture. Nice bokeh.
I love this photo!
You are at your best when you incorporate the landscape with a wild animal! And the lip smack here is perfectly timed. ♥♥♥♥♥
Thanks Rachel. Environmental shots have always been my favorite type of wildlife photography.
