A coastal brown bear takes a quick corner to the right, chasing down the silver salmon at Lake Clark National Park in Alaska. Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) ISO 1600, f/4 at 1/1600th of a second.
WOW!!!! What s shot! Something about bears always makes me smile, even though they are fearsome, powerful animals. You caught all of it in one amazing action moment.

WOW!! This is absolutely amazing!! You can feel the movement. One of my favorite animals. Thanks for a great pic to start my day Sean🙂
Thanks Marcia. One of my favorite subjects too.
It kinda looks like he’s running on his hind legs only. Which would be hilarious.
They’ve been known to do that. Especially while in the shallow water like this hunting for fish.
Incredible.
Thanks Shardae.
What action in this shot , hungry beat
And even hungrier cubs waiting on the shoreline.
Power, real power.
Thanks Donna.

Great shot !!! Even with a 400mm lens, it wouldn’t take long for the bear to be upon you. It’s a good thing that salmon was on his menu.
