There are four different species of basilisk lizard that range from southern Mexico into South America. I believe this is the brown basilisk. All of them go by the common name of the Jesus lizard because of their ability to run across water. Photographed on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 600mm manual focus lens, ISO 100, f/5.6 at 1/60th of a second.
Somewhere out there lives a lizard who has the power to forgive sins and heal lepers and who’s trying to figure out how to brand himself now that someone else has taken “Jesus lizard.”
Really like the color contrast ratio on this shot, with the bright green “starburst” pattern background, framing your little lizard fellow. May he pray for all of us! Happy Thanksgiving!

A great example of why we need copyright protection.
Like to see that Special Lizard running on Water
With so many here in Florida would be a treat
I tried getting a few running across the water but was unsuccessful. Some day.

Thanks for noticing that Laura. I moved my position to include the interesting background.
