An old high school classmate of mine passed away yesterday. We were friendly, if not particularly close back then. When I started my blog seven years ago, however, she quickly became one of my biggest supporters. She was also one of the first people to buy one of my prints. It was this shot of Baxter State Park, which I originally posted back in October of 2010. She was a big fan and collector of New England scenics. This one’s for you Katie. Rest in peace. Sean, I am so sorry to learn about the passing of your steadfast booster. Katie selected a marvelous image of yours to hang in her home and I am sure she would be honored to know that you took the time to tell us about her. Considering the occasion that prompts you to re-post this image, one can’t help but note the breathless beauty that you expertly captured. I’d like to think that Katie’s spirit has taken up permanent residence in a golden realm that lies just beyond this world. Your stunning image is evidence that that such places exist here on earth. Surely what lies beyond is ten-fold more beautiful and Katie is now experiencing a serenity similar to that she must have found in your photograph. May peace attend thee.
First let me say I am sorry for the loss of your friend. She had great taste in choosing that picture first with all its’ glory. I thank you for sharing this beautiful story. I have always known you have a gift to see things and the ability to capture them just at the blink of an eye. I believe your friend will always Rest In Peace.
Sean , I also love visiting New England where my son and wife went to college in Massachusetts. Your pic above is beautiful. I live in the South but my second home will always be the quaint villages and the strong people of New England . Thank you for sharing it with me.
Sean thank you. Having moved to Maine the Summer after freshman year and having really only known Katie from Darcey School days we too also reconnected via Fb decades later. This picture connecting Maine to Cheshire is an amazing personal way for me to remember that time and distance will never break the bonds of childhood friendships. Thank you.
Nice Sean. Very well done. Kate would be happy.
We sure have lost a wonderful person. If for nothing else I sure will miss her Tan rebuttles.
Rest in peace Kate….enjoy your own beautiful scene….

So sorry to hear about your friend Sean. another beautiful shot in a beautiful place. Is that Katahdin in the background?
Thanks Steve. I think that’s Katahdin back there. I know that it’s in the park and, of course, the start of the Appalachian Trail.
My condolences, Sean. Your photograph is not only beautiful but to remember her through it is also beautiful.
A lovely picture and a lovely tribut to your friend.
I am also partial to the Maine landscapes.
Sooooo beautiful! Such an amazing composition! And way to go nature for picking that color combination!
