This here is a black-tailed jackrabbit, also known as a desert hare. Something about these guys fascinates me. Maybe it’s just those ears. Or the fact that they’re the inspiration for the jackalope myth that more than one person I know believes in. Seeing them leap through the desert in Anza-Borrego State Park in California they do, in fact, seem a bit antelope like. More photos to come in an upcoming post.
I want to enter a show for the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. I want to do an east meets west composition. I wanted a jackrabbit opposite a midwestern rabbit.
I was wondering if you would give me permission to base my jackrabbit on your shot of the black-tailed jackrabbit???
I understand if you do not want me to use your work, but jackrabbits are hard to come by in Ohio. If you would allow me to use it, I would need a statement of permission from you.
Please let me know how you feel. It truly is a great reference shot for me. Thanks, susan hoffheimer
