This is a black and white ruffed lemur. This species was probably the most mischievous of all the lemurs I saw in Madagascar. On several occasions, I witnessed one of these guys moving in for a sneak attack on another species. This photo was taken on an island for rescued lemurs (appropriatey named Lemur Island) near the town of Perinet.
Without a doubt before I die I must visit Lemur Island. I thought I loved the frog shots but your lemur pics are by far my faves! Don’t get me wrong I still miss the Friday Frog.
He is a curious little fellow, isn’t he? Okay, Sean, what kind of Scooby snacks did you have for this guy to get so close?
“Polly wants a cracker.” LOL :-))))) Cool eyes on that guy. Get your bug out.
If his iris were a camera iris, I would say he’s at about a 5.6/6.7 on the ol’ f-stop. What do you think? I’d say your
iris for the shot was a 2.4 or maybe even a 1.8. You’ve got a pretty shallow DOF on that puppy. Am I right?
Hey Tom, f/5.6 on this one but I was so close to the lemur’s face that it narrowed the depth of field considerably. On this island the lemurs are habituated to people because most of them are rescued so you can get very close.
