Here’s another look at one of the bull moose that I saw in Chugach State Park in Anchorage. Of the three males that I watched going after the one female, this guy seemed to have the best chance of success. Nikon D810 with Nikkor 70-200mm lens (at 200mm) ISO 800, f/4 at 1/800th of a second
I was, in fact, in his way a few times. The female kept moving, as well as the three males that were after her. Inadvertently, I’d end up in the way but would quickly course correct as to avoid any problems.
Why do you say he is in first place? Is he considered “good looking”? That girl needs to look around to make sure he is the best option she has. From my prospective it is questionable, but, then, I have never had much to do with a bull moose.
Ha, they are strange looking creatures. This guy, however, was the biggest of the three, with the best sent of antlers, and therefore was in the favorable position, and for the most part unchallenged, to win the mate.
