Here’s another one from out on Tommy Thompson Park in Toronto. These three formidable looking amphibians are American toads. A whole lot of mating activity was going on when I was there. The males were singing a chorus to the females, other lovers were already in the process of making more toads, and several mating pairs were surrounded by strands of tadpole eggs. Fantastic! Sean, I love photographing frogs and toads, but have never gotten a photo of the barbershop trio, toad style. What time of day did you capture this image and did you use a flash? If you can stand one more question, roughly what distance were you from the chorus? Great shot! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Sue. This was a bit late in the morning. The sun was getting a bit high but was filtered somewhat through the tall reeds along the edge of the pond. No flash. I was about as close as my focus would allow on my 200-400, so about 7 feet.
